IBM VoiceType

IBM VoiceType is a flexible speech recognition program that provides an affordable keyboard alternative. Until now the ability to use a keyboard was essential for operating computers and for career advancement. VoiceType frees the user from the keyboard, allowing voice input instead of keyboard input.

VoiceType lets you control DOS and many popular text-based software applications with voice. VoiceType responds to voice input, allowing text entry and word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs.

VoiceType’s unique advantages include the following;

Greater productivity through an input raate that exceeds rates of other assistive technology.

Adaptive learning capability.

Multiple user speech models can be maintained on a single system.

Large flexible vocabulary (over 7,000 words) that allows for up to 2,000 user-specified words and commands.

Word prediction, made possible by the 80,000 word backup directory, helps with quick recognition and accurate spelling.

Voice-accessible online documentation.

Instructional videotape to assist in learnign and becoming proficient with VoiceType.

Simple user interface that employs popup windows.

Built-in voice commands for controlling popular applications.

Volice macros that allow commands, common repetitive phrases, and even paragraphs (I to 1000 keystrokes total) to be entered with a single utterance.


SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
VoiceType requires a minimum of 6 MB of memory, a 30MB fixed disk, and dos 5.0. The appropriate IBM M+Audio Capture and Playback Adapter is required as well.
